Red was the color of the day for the LGA at South Shore Harbour as they were possibly drenched both inside and out at the close of their annual “Bloody Mary Derby,” also known as the“Spring Derby”in polite company, I guess. There was nothing polite about the weather in which they played Saturday, and it is rumored the wet look may be a feature for the Fall Derby.

A large field was cut to the top 10 scorers for the elimination shootout, which included Pam Bollero, Dona Jaschke, Kathy Edwards, Judy Scott, Ann Shea and Linda Landrum. Landrum took home a large pile of cash for correctly selecting seven of the 10 qualifiers. Club pros Jenny Judd and Brittany Palomares kept all wagering aboveboard and within the limits of the law, as Susan Coulter won top prize followed by Sue Muench, Tamara Schneider and Sandy Dull.

That’s a Wrap

Wally Holmes topped the final points standing for the Winter Series of the Thursday Cash Game at Moody Gardens GC. Bobby Sanderson was in second place just three points back, while Paul Bohn and Wayne McHenry were tied for third place. Jim Muntzel and Chris Caldwell tied for fifth.

Last week’s winners were Eric Telliard (76) for low gross and Rande Revilla (66) for low net and low net-par fours. Bobby Sanderson, Jimmy Jenkins and Scott Sanders won the team net cash, and Richard Dipuccio pocketed CTP money.

Unwrapped

The Senior Scramble was back in play Wednesday at Bayou Golf Club, despite winds gusting to 30 mph, with Stan Ivey, Tom Martin, Penny Perez and Ron Beesley posting a fine 64 to win. Wayne Henderson, Dick Orweller, Roger Herndon and Mike Cappa were runners-up, with CTP earnings for Ray Summers, Bal Gomez, Tom Martin and Stan Ivey.

I got that selfie requested by my small-footed friend and a bonus photo with Shell Houston Open defending champion D.A. Points. The SHO is March 31-April 6 and offers a chance to see some of the best in the world up close and personal.

Be safe, on and off the course.
