LEAGUE CITY – The Clear Creek Wildcats jumped out to an early lead against Dickinson and captured an 11-1 victory on Monday at Mallory Field.
Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Wildcats to put the game away early.
Runs scored on a groundout by Harrison Hill and an error in the first inning, and an RBI single by Satchel McElroy and a sacrifice fly by Hill during the second inning helped Clear Creek build a 7-1 lead. McElroy racked up three RBIs on four hits for Wildcats.
Landon Etzel pitched lights-out for Clear Creek. Dickinson managed just one hit off Etzel, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out nine during his five innings of work.
The Gators scored their only run of the game in the third inning when Marcus Ingram was hit by a pitch, advanced to second base when Travis Spruiell was hit by a pitch, reached third on a passed ball and finally scored on a passed ball.
It didn’t take long for the Wildcats to answer as they scored two runs of their own in the third.
