HOUSTON — The public is invited to see a giant crane lift the space shuttle replica Independence to its permanent home atop Space Center Houston’s historic shuttle carrier aircraft on Aug. 14.

Shuttle carrier aircraft arrives at Space Center Houston

Two days after it began its trek from Ellington field, the Boeing 747 Space Shuttle Carrier aircraft arrived at its final destination at Space Center Houston Wednesday morning.

HOUSTON — People gathered on the side of state Highway 3 on Monday night to see sections of the eight-story Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft inch their way toward Space Center Houston.

WEBSTER —The Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft flew into Ellington Field for an air show. When it leaves today it will roll out in pieces.
