Are you a legal resident of the district you’re seeking to represent? Yes I have lived in Friendswood which is part of District 7 since 1994.

Have you ever been convicted of a crime? NO

Have you ever sued a public entity or been sued by one? NO

Do you have any unpaid property taxes? NO

Do you have any unpaid parking tickets? NO

Do you have any other debts to a public entity? NO

If elected will you work at the job full time? The position requires attending a meeting every other month for two to three days. I will be very involved in the district between the meetings. I will also spend the time researching and preparing on the issues.

Will you continue to own or operate an outside business while holding this full-time public office? This is only a part-time and unpaid position and I will have some type of employment while serving.

Will you have your home phone number listed in the phone book? YES

Will you keep regular office hours? I will be open to meet with people. There are no regular office hours with this position.

Q. Why should voters choose you? What are your specific qualifications for the position?

A. I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in social studies education and a master’s degree in educational leadership. ... I spent 24 years as a classroom teacher and 10 years in a supervisory. ...

My husband son and I are all products of the Texas public school system from kindergarten through 12th grade.

My opponent home-schooled his children. I firmly believe that parents should have the freedom to choose how to educate their children whether that be through private charter or home schools. ...

A. Issue: Address the drop-out rate...

Platform: Promote more career and technology courses for graduation

Issue: Prepare students for the 21st century

Platform: Include critical thinking skills in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS); Provide more career and technology courses

Issue: Ensure responsible investment of the $25 billion Permanent School Fund

Platform: Increase the External Fund Management qualifications to those prior to the spring of 2008

Issue: Ensure the standards reflect the key content and skills

Platform: Have expert educators write the standards and have them develop a curriculum that is cohesive consistent spirals appropriate includes rigor and relevance; Include critical thinking skills

Issue: Evolution

Platform: While I believe in God’s role in creation I believe science classrooms should teach science while matters of faith are left to families and congregations.
