In regards to Benny Davis’ letter (“Galveston isn’t Miami or Carmel,” Daily News, April 18), if The Daily News reviewed its archives it would discover that, in the past, city councils have violated the vote of the people.

There was an election and the proposed trolley system was voted down. The mayor and council went on with the construction even though voters were smart enough to realize that the promise that the trolley would never be a burden to the taxpayers and would always be self sustaining would be broken.

It’s too bad the voters were so right on the issue but city officials elected to negate the election results.
