There was one drop of oil found on Stewart Beach after last month's oil spill. The drop was the size of a nickel and somebody stuck an orange flag in to mark the spot that would destroy Galveston’s economy.
The photo on the front page news showed the nickel sized oil spot on the beach, with tourists frolicking in the background. Stewart Beach was the target of all the bad publicity. Both newspaper and television news made the beach seem to be the main place the oil landed, when in fact it was East Beach that got the oil washed up to shore.
