The truth once held so dear has become questionable, not politically correct, and is no longer accepted as truth. The U.S. Constitution, when adopted in 1789, restricted income taxes so that they were not practicable. Then Karl Marx wrote a book explaining the principles of communism in 1849. He spelled out 10 planks that would be necessary to convert a free capitalistic society into a communist state. The second plank called for a graduated income tax.
Sixty years later the 16th Amendment to the Constitution was adopted allowing for the second plank of the Communist Manifesto.
