In regard to a letter where some claim Texas is unfair when it comes to our system of punishment for school- age children (“Schools are not responsible for raising children,” Daily News, March 22), the parents are the true root of all these problems — not Texas.

Stop and look at the number of cases where children were punished by their guardian and you will find some cases were truly abuse and some were just disciplinary. Beacuse of all the bad cases and others calling Child Protective Services for discipline cases, the parents have been restricted by the authorities or are scared of the repercussions of getting reported for some nonsense.

Kids nowadays see these events happening and know what they can do and get away with, since most of the parents will not say no to any act of bad intent.

In terms of race, there is no single race better then the other. You have good and bad in all races. To fix our schools, we need more parents involved inside and out to assist in making the schools safer and better learning environments. If you want your children treated any differently, raise them right, not by themselves.
