FY Mick..Most Republicans and a bunch of Democrats in this county were pushing her to run for county judge. She would have made a great one! No one but the voters anoint anyone here. She is the one that decided to keep her word to the citizens and finish her term. She also loves her job! If she would have run she would have had to resign her position. Mark Henry would have then went back to the friends and family plan and appointed someone off the bench of cronies who are waiting in the wings. Ms Johnson is to be commended for keeping her word to the voters. My opinion, she would have won hands down... on the other hand, Mrs. Hatmaker has more support than you think as she is also in the race for pure reasons. Ms. Hatmaker, just like Ms.Johnson really care about the people and the well being of Galveston county. These ladies are solid. It appears the voters are not turning out. Low turnout gives the challenger's in all races a slight advantage. Mark Henry and his cronies days may be numbered.. The term "new era" on his old signs that he is using may still be true...How ironic.

Over the years, I have admired Mrs. Johnson's stewardship of the county assessors office.

However, during election cycles, she comes across as a typical Galveston County politician, bitter that the Republican Party did not anoint her as the next County Judge.

With this county's political climate, this is expected. Is it good? No, but being right or wrong will not cause it to cease.
