For years, Galvestonians have referred to two of the old public housing projects as Cedar Terrace and Magnolia Homes.
The projects are gone — bulldozed clean after Hurricane Ike struck in 2008.
Mixed-income developments are scheduled to go on those two sites. The headlines of late have been about the lawsuit seeking to block construction.
In all the furor over the lawsuit, the names of those two developments changed. The Galveston Housing Authority quietly approved the new names this week.
What once was Cedar Terrace will be the site of The Cedars at Carver Park. What once was Magnolia Homes will be the site of Villas on The Strand.
