If you have been following the discussion about the county’s problems in caring for stray cats and dogs, this weekend offers a break from the gloomy news about budget battles and euthanization rates.
Last year, some animal shelters and rescue groups put on the Paws and Claws Adopt-A-Thon in League City.
The concept was to make it simple to take home a pet.
The animals could be adopted for $25. And they were ready to take home. They had been sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped.
The event was such a success, organizers decided to expand it. This year, the event will be spread over two days, instead of one. Organizers are hoping that twice as many animals find homes.
The event is this weekend. It’s a good idea. Spread the word.
