MaryEllen Oliver, age 66, died suddenly February 13, 2013. She was born February 23, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri, to William M. Oliver and Lillian Lamborn Oliver. She graduated from Memorial High School in Houston, then attended Texas Christian University, and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Nursing. She worked at Duke University Hospital, and later moved back to Houston, where she worked at Ben Taub General Hospital. She became a Patient Education specialist, and later worked at the Baylor College of Medicine Internal Medicine Clinics and at the Sid Richardson Institute.

She met and married David Nickeson, who was a resident physician working at Ben Taub. They were married March 28, 1982, in the garden at Vargo’s. She had 3 children over the next 4 years, Daniel Ross Nickeson, Jeffrey Warren Nickeson and Alexandra Jean Nickeson. She was active in the PTA and Scouting activities, and spent many hours supporting her children and her husband in their sporting and musical interests. She began working at the Living Materials Center in Seabrook Intermediate School about 10 years ago, and greatly enjoyed working with the students, animals and teachers at Seabrook Intermediate. She was an engaging personality, who made many close friends and touched many lives.  She had a gift for organization which led to her being asked to perform innumerable tasks and duties, often without pay. She loved the arts and reading, and enjoyed annual visits to the summer home in Chautauqua, NY.   Most of all, she loved her large family, and rejoiced in having family reunions and get-togethers.
