DICKINSON — Drug charges were filed against 24 people Friday as a result of a yearlong undercover operation by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office in Dickinson.

Seven of the 24 were arrested Friday, and seven others already were in custody. Authorities are searching for the others.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that the 24 people were being charged with 43 offenses of selling drugs.

The operation began because of complaints about drug activity from community members in a place called “The Yard,” 2812 Ave. B, according to the statement.

Officers executed a search warrant at 2804 24th St., which resulted in the arrest of two men, according to the statement.

Alex Paige, 38, was charged with manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. His total bond amount is $410,000.

Dwight Gaines, 21, was charged with two counts of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. His total bond amount is $80,000.

Others arrested Friday were:

• Ira Hill, 34, who was arrested on an outstanding federal warrant for narcotic trafficking in Florida, according to the release. He was turned over to U.S. Marshals, who assisted in the search.

• Brian Lott, 35, who was charged with manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $60,000.

• Cynthia Jones, 30, who was charged with two counts of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $210,000.

• Nyberia Nunez, 33, who was charged with three counts of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $180,000.

• Tyrone Johnson, 45, who was charged with four counts of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $330,000.

The sheriff’s office seized a total of 16 grams of crack cocaine, 28 pills of ecstasy and 13.6 grams of marijuana, the release stated.

The sheriff’s office will continue to search for the remaining people charged, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.
