GALVESTON — The TWELVE Project, now in its fourth year, is giving 12 Texas musicians the opportunity to turn their creativity to photographing life behind the mic as well as participate in a newly formed concert series that runs from September through December at various island venues.

For the 2014 TWELVE Project, a select group of musicians are, temporarily, trading their instruments for another artistic device, an Olympus Trip 35 Camera. Auction of their selected photo, and sales of concert tickets, will go toward the newly established TWELVE fund. This fund will raise money for Galveston area youth in need of financial assistance in the arts.

The initial concert, will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice St., will feature acoustic performances by Hayes Carll and Carrie Rodriguez.

Tickets range from $20 to $50.

In addition to the performances, this year’s participants will select one of their photos for exhibition and auction at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 in Edna’s Room of The Grand 1894 Opera House.

TWELVE, a photography project created in 2011 by Will Wright and Shannon Guillot-Wright, highlights the diversity of people, sceneries and architecture in cities, as well as our diverse viewpoints on life. TWELVE is a nonprofit initiative fiscally sponsored by ARTSPIRE, a Program of New York Foundation for the Arts. The program is one of the oldest, largest, most prestigious and artist-friendly in the county.
