KEMAH — In theater, when adversity strikes, the saying is “The show must go on.”
Well it was the same for The Daily News’ first Glamour for Grammar Fashion Show held Wednesday at the Kemah Boardwalk.
Just as the show was the get under way in the Boardwalk’s outdoor courtyard, thunderstorms struck, forcing the show indoors.
Models, spectators and sponsors hustled into the ballroom of The Aquarium restaurant where the show, delayed by about an hour and a half, indeed went on.
More than 50 models took to the makeshift runway with fashions from retail merchants in Galveston County.
Funds from the show benefited The Daily News’ Newspapers in Education program. The program provides newspapers and curriculum for math, current events, grammar, language and history classes in all of the county’s public school districts.
