Police put Bayou Vista street on lockdown

BAYOU VISTA — Police scoured the street and the downstairs of houses in this canal-front community overnight Wednesday after a pair of men wanted for leading an officer on a short high-speed chase and were able to hide out in a house until arrested Wednesday morning police said.

About 2 a.m. Bayou Vista officer Richard Hill was attempting a traffic stop when the men in the car being pulled over raced down Marlin Drive. When the men reached the end of the street that dead ends into the water they took off on foot Bayou Vista police Chief Paul Odin said.
