GALVESTON — Jazz, one of the most American of music styles, can take on many forms, and they will be on full display at fourth annual Red Cat Jazz Festival in Galveston this weekend.

“We’re really trying to make a diverse festival with music for everybody,” said Sam Pink, one of the organizers of the event.

The festival, which will be at Moody Gardens, will feature Grammy Award winners Al Jarreau and Kirk Whalum. Houston native Ronnie Laws will be making the trip back to the bay area to celebrate 50 years in music, and even young talent will get to take the stage as part of the Rising Star Talent Competition.
