In 1914, Norwegians of Galveston were celebrating their 100th anniversary of freedom.

In 1964, an open house was scheduled aboard the USS Haynesworth and at the U.S. Coast Guard base at Fort Point.

In 1989, two high school seniors from Houston went missing and were feared dead after disappearing in strong gulf currents off Stewart Beach in Galveston.

In 1989, stuntwomen Sandy Gimpel and Jadie David of Los Angeles were in Galveston working on the movie “Keaton’s Cop.” They both said they “sort of fell into the business.”
