PORT BOLIVAR — Bolivar Peninsula residents can once again consume tap water without having to boil it first, utility district officials said today.

A major break in a transmission line between Winnie and High Island prompted the Bolivar Peninsula Special Utility District to warn its customers Wednesday to boil water used for drinking, cooking and making ice.

The worry was that harmful microbes could have invaded the water system because of the line break.

Water tests results received Thursday found no such contamination, officials said.
