LEAGUE CITY -- She did a better job promoting her Lone Star Kitchen concept, but chuck-wagon cook Lenny McNab beat out Sarah Penrod to make the finals of Food Network Star.
Penrod, who lives in League City, made the final four on the cooking network's chef competition, but only three chefs advance to the final show.
Food Network executives said they liked Penrod's enthusiasm. Celebrity Chef mentors Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis each said Penrod has a bright future.
The three finalists, McNab, Nicole Gaffney and Luca Della Casa were able to shoot pilots for a possible Food Network Show. The winner will get his or her own show on the network.
Despite not making the finals, Penrod said she feels "lucky."
"I feel like I made it to the very end, got all of the experience, all the mentorship, which, I’m in the industry, so I know that them giving us these nuggets of wisdom is hard for them, because it took the mentors so long to learn those things," Penrod said in her exit interview with the Food Network. "And now the three — Luca, Nicole and Lenny — are going to go and make their pilots, but they’re going to be making their pilots in this environment with the show, which is very nerve-racking."
