I must admit this story is really strange sounding with many unanswered questions. I was told the motorcyclist was drug under the truck with the motorcycle for almost a mile. Parts of the bike were scattered all over the place including in the field and the ditch on that road. I know the road very well. If he hit the back of the truck so hard to damage the truck so bad you couldn't drive it, the girl would have had to been driving at a high rate of speed as the bike would as well and she would have to had slammed on the brakes to make him hit her or she would have to been going really slow, & him really fast to make the bike hit that hard. Plus the truck would have to be high off the ground to go under that far and do that kind of damage and get drug that far. The bike from what I was told was split in half and completely mangled as was he and show me an 18 year old girl with a cell phone that does not text and drive and from Bacliff or anywhere in the country for that matter.( I saw a ladies car catch on fire right in front of me about 6 months ago while she was driving yakin on the phone stopped because the car died and went a sat down still talking waving her hands while the car was burning to the ground completely oblivious to the car burning.) So not knowing what happened I can see it.

I think there is someone else involved with the accident and not just two vehicles a bike and a truck. The hospital thing and the long wait for calling 911 and someone else doing it and not the driver or passenger, dragging the cyclist and the bike where you cant recognize either one of them. No I don't think so. I have worked a lot of accidents and dead at the scene ones people that have been shot etc. and I'm not a cop just drive an awful lot all over the country. Bacliff is a bad place with a lot of bad people in it, This has fish in it. Almost every crash I have ever been around in the past years has been a hit and run including pedestrians, bicycles esp. My version of this mess:
dark road girl hits bike while texting or yakin on the ph. That would explain for not knowing what she hit or hit her still talking and letting the truck coast while dragging the bike and cyclist bump bump the bike and the rider finally flop out from under the truck now she stops the truck ,gets out to look someone is calling a friend and not 911 immediately.( I mean wouldn't anyone call 911 on that road when your vehicle is disabled and not knowing what you hit or what ran into you hell I would.) My vehicle just recently broke down in the middle of nowhere and that was the first thing I did and all I did was break down.(non emergency) Plus an emergency number to call is on the back of your. DL No sir, someone is covering up this accident and I don't think it's the police. I think they are in the dark and are trying to make sense of the whole mess. Pull the cell phone records of the driver to find out what was going on ie texting or yakin etc. and be looking for clues to a third vehicle and trace cell phone records of who she called first or when or before or during the accident. I think she screwed up and is trying to CHA. Scared to heck which I would be too. But I really feel a cover up here. the crime, greed, fear, dishonesty, now a days plus no responsibility for what you do anymore, it's someone else's fault not yours. It's does not add up. My heart goes out to the family it's a tragedy. Admit to what you do wrong and take what comes after. Because you will one way or another in this life or the next . I couldn't live with myself if I didn't know what the heck happened. Maybe the girl is completely innocent. I don't know. But I do know that none of it makes any sense to me. You don't drag someone for that distance from what I was told and not know something of what happened and newspaper correction???? It happens but I question the whole incident I hope we find out the truth.

I completely agree we dont know what happened and thats what is frustrating and like I said my heart goes out to both families and if it was the girls family or friends im sure they would be the sAme way but noone needs to put the blame anyone until further questions are answered and the official statment gets released

Bobluga thanks for trying to clear up the confusion. Sadly, when the newspaper reports things incorrectly then tries to change it there is confusion and hurt for all involved. I am sorry for the loss of this young man but the family will just have to wait until the final report has come out. They have been told what happened but I am sure it is hard to comprehend. Please leave your ugly comments about this precious young girl off. She did NOTHING wrong You do not know what she did after her truck was hit dr behind. Leave her alone!

First off I want to know the truth. My friend Is freaking dead.

Secondly if something hits a truck that hard why didnt u call 911? Especially if your freaking hurt. A BYSTANDER called 911 not her cause they thought a pedestrian got hit so my question is where exactly was the bike...
If it made the truck undriveable therefore theres another piece to the story people are saying not to blame her she is a good girl well guess what the other party cant speak because he died. And HE was an awesome person too. Im not pointing fingers but everyone who loved and knew him wants answers cause the story doesnt make sense once so ever. And if it was the girl her friends and family would bethe same way.

My heart goes out to both family's cause is this is a horrible tragedy where a young man lost his life. Just give us answers and credible answers at that.

Im not trying to start anything just speaking my mind and trying to make sense of this whole thing.

Just read the updated version and it does sound fishy. Why would they get picked up by someone (which would take time as they wait at the scene) and go to the hospital without notifying the police or calling 911 for the motorcyclist? They fled the scene of the crime...plain and simple. A young man past away and she feels sorry after police found out that it was her? There wasn't any remorse shown when she, the friend she was driving with, and whoever picked them up from the scene. They just drove off while jcapetillo and his mom later called the police. I hope the truth comes out one way or the other. The Navarro family is in my prayers.

First off she wasn't texting and I wanna know how you think she hit him from behind if the damage was to her back end thank you! If you don't know facts please stop blaming her!! She is a good driver and had another person with her! She didn't kill him the impact from him hitting the truck did! It happens in a lot of motorcycle accidents

JCapetillo-did you and your mom contact the lead investigator of this case. He's with the Texas city police. His name is Patterson. We are his family and we have no idea what really happened it doesn't make sense. So please if y'all haven't please do! Thank you!

Why don't we let the police do their jobs investigating and also pray for both of these families. It's horrible that this happened but it does no good to be negative, that helps no one. May all involved find peace

I'm not buying that he ran into her... my mom and I were actually the ones that called the cops. The condition of the truck and where he was... doesn't make sense.

Whatever the results of the investigations turn out to be is what they will turn out to be.

I would like to offer the grieving family of the decease these comforting words in their time of bereavement:
    -
    John 14:1-6
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

    2) In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

    3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

    4) And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 )Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

    6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    -
Amen, and God bless all of you as you go through these troubling times.

TJ, the story still contains this confusing sentence: "The collision happened after a truck struck a motorcycle on a dark stretch of road near Dickinson."

We have corrected the story... Police have now confirmed motorcycle struck the rear of the truck not the other way around...

I dunno, sounds like this youngster was texting and ran up this gentleman's backside but was promptly shuttled away by relatives before the police arrived.

This IS a weird article. Sounds like TJ had very little to go on, and it's not among his best work. Look at this sentence:

"The fatal collision happened after a truck struck a motorcycle on a dark stretch of road near Dickinson."

Was there more than one accident? It says the fatal one happened AFTER a truck struck the motorcycle.
