GHF restoring a pre-Civil War home

A humble home that has survived war and hurricanes was rescued from demolition after Hurricane Ike and will now serve as a hands-on museum at the Galveston Historical Foundation’s warehouse.

Councilman's Hitler parody draws complaint from ADL

GALVESTON — Complaints about a YouTube video shown during a recent council meeting has prompted the city to remove a recording of the meeting from its website, and has Mayor Jim Yarbrough saying he will apologize publicly during the council’s next regular meeting.

Marathon USW workers stage another protest

Coast Guard medevacs baby from cruise ship near Galveston

Wayward Galveston pit bull found in Indiana returns home to Texas

GALVESTON — The last time JoeAnn Navarro saw her pit bull, Blue, was in May. So on Saturday, when Blue was to make her return to Galveston, Navarro was at the Galveston Island Humane Society two hours before the dog’s expected arrival.

Police: Robbery motive for slaying

Kayaker fell overboard, makes it back to shore

A kayaker who decided to head out into Galveston Bay during stormy weather Thursday afternoon fell overboard. Luckily he made it safe to shore, but not before a search was launched by the Kemah Police Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.
