TEXAS CITY — “Evolving Perspectives,” an exhibition of work from students in the University of Houston Graduate Painting Program, will be on display through Feb. 7 at the College of the Mainland Art Gallery.

From geometric designs to surrealism, the paintings portray different views on the world.

“Each student has a unique take on the painting medium. They’re establishing their own artistic identity,” Art Gallery director Mayuko Gray said.

The graduate students will discuss their work at a reception and artist talk at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the gallery.

“It’s student-to-student communication,” Gray said. “It’s good for our community college students to see what graduate students are doing. It could be an inspiration to a COM student.”

The COM Art Gallery at the main campus is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and by appointment. For more information on the gallery, call 409-933-8354 or visit com.edu/gallery.
