GALVESTON — The “Great American Trailer Park Musical” will debut at 8 p.m. March 14 at the Island East-End Theatre Co., 2317 Mechanic St.

The show will run through April 12 and can be seen at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and there also will be two matinees at 2:30 p.m. March 23 and March 30.

Directed by Kim Mytelka with musical direction by Carol Daubert and choreographed by Jennifer Daugherty, “Trailer Park” is a laugh out loud musical full of heart.

“We are very excited to be presenting ‘Trailer Park’ this spring. We have an incredible cast and creative team,” said ETC Artistic Director Kim Mytelka. “I can guarantee that our audiences are going to have a great time. ‘Trailer Park’ is an undeniably entertaining hullabaloo and a rowdy good time. Don’t let the title fool you, there is much more to this musical!”

Set in Starke, Fla., at the Armadillo Acres Trailer Park, “Trailer Park” tells the story of high-school sweethearts Norbert (Brandon del Castillo) and agoraphobic Jeannie (Robin Lusby Schaefer). Their nearly 20-year marriage is jeopardized when newcomer Pippi (Katie Harrison) comes to reside at Armadillo Acres. At the same time, Pippi’s jealous ex-boyfriend, Duke (Luther Chakurian), travels from Oklahoma City to Starke trying to find his runaway lover. Assisting the story along are Armadillo Acres residents Betty (Sandi Morgan), Linoleum “Lin” (Penny Rieger), and Donna “Pickles” (Hanna Harper).

“Trailer Park” is written by Betsy Kelso with music and lyrics by David Nehls. The score combines country blues, boogie-woogie, a little disco and other musical styles. The authors never look down on the characters or trailer park lifestyle. Some of them may be undereducated or a bit lazy at times, but Kelso and Nehls have created generally sincere and lovable people.

Tickets are $27 for adults and $22 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at www.islandetc.org.
