Texas City Small Business Week is a spinoff of the Small Business Day that the city coordinated with the help of the Texas City Economic Development Corporation, the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce, local business owners in 2012 to kick off the Christmas holiday season.
Texas City Small Business Week is a time for local businesses to really shine and remind not only our residents, but the entire southeast Houston region what we have in Texas City to offer.
It is not just for retail, but an opportunity for the industrial support businesses, construction trade, restaurants and service industries to let people know of the opportunities and fine services and products we have in Texas City.
Texas City is working with the other entities listed above to host a week full of events:
• Aug. 4: Kickoff with a Small Business Fair at College of the Mainland. A perfect opportunity for residents to find out what businesses are in Texas City without having to drive all over Texas City.
It’s a great opportunity for businesses to market to residents and college students what they have to offer, promote hiring opportunities and network with other businesses as well as find out about assistance availability in training, finance, etc. offered by College of the Mainland, TC-LM Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center.
Free Hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Contact Danny Bacot, email@example.com.
• Aug. 5: A night
of wine tasting at
several retail centers along Palmer Highway and Loop 197 (25th Avenue).
Retailers at Texas City centers will offer an open house and wine tasting in the retail stores as you visit and take advantage of their specials for the week.

• Aug. 7: A special night of entertainment on Sixth Street beginning with a reception at the museum serving light faire, providing a cocktail bar and models displaying jewelry and various attire available at local boutiques.
This is followed with Dancing With The Stars where local celebrities display their dancing skills in the Showboat Theater at 7:30 p.m. and concluding with a street event that highlights El Cubano Cigar factory, American Ice House, other established businesses and the two newest additions to Sixth Street (Color Cottage and The Shops at 811 Sixth St.).
The street event will also include music, food vendors, drinks, wine and beer. All day Sixth Street stores will be offering specials and will be open late that night.

Every day at all participating businesses there will be opportunities to enter to win a Grand Prize worth more than $1,500.
The Grand Prize will be drawn after Dancing with the Stars on Aug. 7. The more events you attend or businesses that you visit, the more entries you can submit.
The more entries you submit, the more chances to win. Participating stores will be promoting their involvement with green feather flags in front of their businesses that say “Shop Texas City” to identify them as official participants in the program.
