A weather pattern is developing that should keep cold air around Galveston County through the middle of next week. In fact, longer term forecasts suggest mostly chilly, cloudy, wet weather will persist into the third weekend of December with only brief spells of sunshine and somewhat milder temperatures.
The good news from all of this is that icy precipitation should stay well north of our area this weekend and that rainfall this weekend may not be quite as abundant as projected by earlier forecasts. Still, a reinforcing surge of cold air should reach the coast by Monday or Tuesday, keeping our chill around. We may see some clearing skies behind the front with temperatures moderating gradually through the end of next week. Beyond that, more rain appears likely by next weekend as a coastal trough and low develops.
