Spring was definitely in the air yesterday, with sunny skies and mild temperatures in the afternoon after a cool start to the day. The long-term forecasts seem to indicate that we have finally turned the corner for good on winter. Still, there may be a few bumps in the road, before we can finally say goodbye to chilly weather.

The first bump in the road may come as soon as Monday. A cold front should move off the coast on Sunday, setting the stage for cool, wet weather for most of Monday and part of Tuesday. While temperatures will not be all that chilly, conditions will definitely not be what we like to consider as typical for spring. The second bump in the road may come in early April as some models suggest a decent surge of chilly air about that time.

Still a return of temperatures in the 30s and 40s seem unlikely given the projected upper-level trends and I am growing more confident that we have put most, if not all, of the really chilly weather behind.

Speaking of chilly, the low temperature on March 19, 1923 was 30 degrees and the high was 37 degrees. Guess the cold weather this spring doesn’t look too bad after all.
