Shrimp 'N Stuff debuts downtown island eatery

Update: Power struggle: Yaga's, Tsunami temporarily closed

Popular downtown island eatery Yaga’s Café and neighboring bar, Tsunami Exotic Tequila Emporium, are temporarily out of commission after a power pole behind Yaga’s, 2314 Strand, fell Sunday, knocking out electricity.

Cullen's to serve $38,000 bottle of single malt Scotch

When an email arrived in my inbox with news that a limited edition bottle of The Balvenie Fifty, a single malt Scotch whisky valued at $38,000 would be opened and served during a dinner for 12 at Cullen’s American Grille, I immediately perked up.

Book highlights lesser known sites in Galveston

Developer plans to buy J.C. Penney building at Mall of Mainland

Details are scarce, but rumor has it that developer Jerome Karam plans to buy yet another vacant department store building at Mall of the Mainland — this time the space formerly occupied by J.C. Penney.

I thought I would offer this friendly restaurant reminder after talking to Webster officials, who are worried that nearby construction work might block signage and keep people from knowing that the 12,000-square-foot Luby’s/Fuddruckers at Baybrook Shopping Center is opening today (Aug. 14).

Isle's La Estacion reopens after brief closure

When I arrived in Galveston nearly 12 years ago, one of the first restaurants my husband dragged me to was La Estacion downtown. He had worked on the island more than a year before I did and was a big fan.
