Tribute to 1900 Storm orphans “haunting” and “powerful”

Linda Macdonald, who has often told the story of the tragedy that struck the orphanage run by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word during the 1900 Storm, found new evidence of the power of that story. During the storm, all 10 sisters and 90 of the 93 children at the orphanage died.

Jim Hutcheson, a psychologist from South Carolina, was moved by the story and wrote a song, “St. Mary’s Children.” Linda, with the help of her husband, Bill, recently posted the song on YouTube.
