Q: Why should voters choose you?

A: I am the more qualified candidate and have the best interest of the citizens and community at heart.

Q: What are your specific qualifications for the position?

A: I have 10 years’ experience as a council member and 2 of those years have served as Mayor Pro-tem. I have attended numerous seminars and conferences to further my education concerning community and civic issues.

Q: What are the issues in this campaign?

A: The most important issue is the funding and construction of a new police station and courts.

Q: What is your platform on those issues?

A: I am in favor of a new police station and courts.

Q: Do you support the proposed police station bond issue? Why or why not?

A: Yes. It is not a case of just wanting a new facility, but a genuine need exists. It is unfair to subject employees to the existing conditions and environmental concerns of the current facility.

Q: If you support the bond referendum, what assurances can you offer the money will be spent the way it’s intended? If you do not support it, what is your specific plan to address the needs of the police station and courts?

A: Management controls will be developed and implemented which will ensure that the bond money be spent as outlined in the bond proposition.

Q: How would you rate the performance of the Santa Fe Police Department?

A: Excellent! The City of Santa Fe is fortunate to have a Chief and officers who are dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of our citizens and community.

Q: How would you rate the leadership of the City Manager?

A: The Santa Fe City Manager has been with the city for over 16 years and has proven to be a true leader. He has served the city very well and under his leadership the city has continued to grow.

Q: What is your opinion of the city’s annexation process and plans for future annexation?

A: The annexation process is set by the state and the city follows the correct procedures. Future annexation is an ongoing process for the city.

Q: What area of city spending would you want to see reduced and why? What area of city spending would you support increasing and why?

A: The budget has been reduced each year in all departments. To reduce the budget further could result in a significant reduction in service. The area I would support increasing is the street department. We need to repair more of our streets rather than cut back in this area.
