1255 Sailfish Bayou Vista, TX
Q: Have you ever been charged or convicted of a felony crime? If you answer yes please explain.
Q: Have you ever sued a public entity or been sued by one? If you answer yes, please explain.
Q: Do you have any other debts (including unpaid taxes) to a public entity? If yes please explain.
Q: Will you have your home phone number listed in the phone book or your mobile number listed for the public to contact you directly?
Q: Why should voters choose you?
A: I am here to do what is best for the city and citizens, not anyone else. I will treat this position and the citizens with the respect they deserve. Respect has to start with the leadership; recently that has not been the case in Bayou Vista and if I am elected that will change. I will research issues on my own and make a decision based on facts as I did when I was recently involved in our road work and spoke directly with the General Land Office. I will listen to all citizens concerns. I will promote transparency in Bayou Vista which has been lacking for many years.
Q: What are your specific qualifications for the position?
A: My communications with citizens and at meetings demonstrate I promote facts; substantiated by documents or audio. I exhibited the ability to work with ALL citizens by overseeing the submission of agenda items signed by 50+ citizens who under most circumstances would not have worked together. I attend council meetings and understand issues facing Bayou Vista. I am an extremely organized person. I served on an HOA which oversees ordinance enforcement, issues we deal with as a city. I served on my Church Council for several years and worked within a budget. I have served as a mentor for teenagers which has strengthened my ability to listen.
Q: What are the issues in this campaign?
A: Important decisions are being made without Council approval. That includes an attorney rate increase, choice for engineer on our roads, permits authorized by the Mayor when not initially approved by the Inspector, use of funds to draw up a contract for land that was not approved by Council for purchase and other issues. Some council members repeatedly allow the decisions to be made FOR them rather than BY them. I have been vocal in my concerns over failure of decisions to come before council. We need a council that will follow procedures, abide by codes, work for ALL citizens and take responsibility for the job they agreed to do.
Q: What is your platform on those issues?
A: Bayou Vista needs Aldermen who will ask questions, research issues on their own, base decisions on facts and represent the citizens. I am that person. I will work to re-establish the executive order to ensure important decisions come before the council as they should. This process is critical. A citizen can then have a voice by calling their representatives or speaking at meetings and have their questions answered. I will listen to citizens and keep them updated. I will review companies providing service to the city. I will set a monetary goal to cover unforeseen expenses before agreeing to spend money on unnecessary purchases. I will provide ANSWERS, not EXCUSES.
