At the Law Offices of Susan M. Edmonson, you don’t just get legal representation. Their attorneys and staff take service a step further by cultivating personal relationships with each and every client no matter what your case or income.

With offices in both Galveston and Seabrook, Susan and her staff have been helping Galveston County residents with a wide range of legal needs for more than 25 years!

Family Law

In Texas, the law requires that the best interests of children be considered when a couple is divorcing. The Law Offices of Susan M. Edmonson adhere closely to that requirement and work diligently to get to know all clients, understand their needs, and listen all of their concerns.

Child custody, child support and visitation rights are emotional issues for all parties. Susan and her staff will vigorously defend the rights and interests of every client and their children.

Their goal in custody cases is not to pursue nasty, expensive litigation. On the contrary, they are dedicated to the interests of the children and to reaching an agreement that will be accepted and honored by both parents.

The attorneys and staff are experienced in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, grandparent issues, and adoption.

Some attorneys in the office also take appointments in Child Protective Services cases in which a parent is accused of abuse or neglect. They also help couples draft prenuptial agreements before marriage.

The law office combines effective counsel, personalized attention, and more than 30 years of experience in divorce settlement negotiations and courtroom litigation. In the family law arena, they work to avoid court battles by seeking creative solutions to clients’ problems.

Susan M. Edmonson is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the practice area of Family Law. This certification does not come lightly. Of the state’s 70,000 attorneys, only 7,000 have earned recognition as a Board Certified specialist in one of 21 areas of law.

Estate Planning and Probate

Probate is the legal process by which a deceased person’s property is transferred to the intended heirs. Ideally, this process takes place with the guidance of a valid will that the person has left.

However, if you die without a will, you run the risk of leaving your family consumed by the Texas probate process for years. This can be an expensive, difficult and long road.

Estate planning can help your loved ones avoid this type of lengthy battle.

At the Law Offices of Susan M. Edmonson, you can take advantage of a package of services that provide for your death as well as illness or injury that may leave you or your spouse incapacitated.

They will assist you with drafting wills, powers of attorney, living wills, declarations of heirship, guardianships and name changes.

For families who are grieving the death of a loved one, the law office’s attorneys and staff are experienced and skilled in providing gentle guidance during the probate process.

Real Estate Law

When it comes to real estate issues, the Law Offices of Susan M. Edmonson can help eminent domain issues, contract negotiations, home sale closings, drafting deeds, notes and deeds of trust are all services they can provide.

Also, they can help in defending against a foreclosure, or dealing with a difficult tenant or landlord.
