Galveston Gallery takes pride in offering a wide range of unique gifts. The newest of these are beautiful, handcrafted pieces from Siegele and Haley.
Colored porcelain plates, mugs and teapots are made with care by Susy Siegele and Mike Haley in a process that involves layering different colors of clay into patterned loaves. These loaves are sliced like bread, exposing the carefully designed patterns within. Each slice will form a pottery piece, which will be baked in a gas- and wood-burning kiln for 24 to 30 hours.
The final product is a luminous clay piece that can withstand everyday use. Remarkably, their pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe.
In addition to dinnerware, Siegele and Haley make beautiful lumineers, also available at Galveston Gallery. Add a tealight and watch as the lumineers, inlaid with figurines, cast a gentle, dancing glow to a darkened room.
