For over 20 years, Island Health Center has served Galveston’s residents, beginning as a chiropractic and physical therapy/rehabilitation clinic, then evolving and expanding over the years to bring on board a wide variety of other medical services. Family Practice, Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Laboratory Services, Paternity Testing and Drug Screens are just a few of the services this walk-in clinic now provides. Aiming to meet “All Your Health Care Needs Under One Roof,” the list keeps getting longer!

Weight Loss

We have added some supplements and injections to our weight loss program. We now have fat and carb blockers alone with our new L-carnitine injection. L-carnitine is an amino acid that plays a vital role in the metabolism of fat. Approximately 95% of the L-carnitine in our body resides in the body’s muscle tissue.

We naturally get L-carnitine through a well-balanced diet, however, even if we diligently follow a health diet we can expect to have only 75% of the L-carnitine needed. There are often conditions that arise that make it difficult for us to get all the carnitine we need from our meals.

Studies show that an adequate supply of L-carnitine is necessary for the maintenance of good health and to keep our metabolism at the highest rate for fat burning.

L-carnitine is also known as an energy boost. Research also suggests that having the proper levels of L-carnitine could help fight chronic fatigue syndrome. It allows the body to burn more fat and ultimately boost stamina and endurance.

For those who would rather use oral supplements, we also offer a wide variety of other weight-loss alternatives.

The newest addition to our weight-loss products line is the African Mango Sublingual drops (also known as HC3).

African Mango acts as a fat burner that suppresses your appetite through regulating leptin. It also delays digesting to help you stay full longer and is a source of soluble fiber.

The program combines the drops with rotational diet, fat blocker, carb blocker, vegetable/fruit shakes and vitamins.

Come by today for a consultation for our weight-loss program!

Health and Wellness Screenings

Island Health Center is also introducing new,  low-cost, all-inclusive health and wellness screening packages for cash patients. By bundling these health services together, the clinic is able to reduce overall patient costs, while providing a more thorough assessment in one visit. Packages include Adult Health Assessment, Diabetic Health Assessment, Men’s Health Assessment and Well Woman Exams. All of these screening package prices include office visit, physical exam and labs. Other packages offered include three levels of confidential STD screening.

Well Women Wednesdays

Well-woman exams are important for women of all ages and the first step in wellness, health promotion and disease identification. Healthy living and early detection of disease increases not only your length of life but, more importantly, your quality of living. The annual well-woman check up is tailored for each person depending on her stage of life and her symptoms and is an important part of preventive care.

Our Well-Woman exam is also more than a Pap test. It includes:

• Complete medical history review. For existing patients, you will be asked to update your history of recent surgeries, hospitalizations, medications, allergies and changes in family history.

• Complete physical exam that will include measuring your height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure and a pelvic and manual breast exam.

• Cervical cancer screening that includes a Pap Smear and possible HPV screening when appropriate. Important: in order to ensure accurate results, we ask all women who are scheduled for a well woman exam to have nothing in the vagina at least 48 hours prior to the examination. This includes abstaining from intercourse, tampon use, creams, douching, ect.

•Other lab tests as indicated.
