Doctor Cool & Professor Heat have been helping Bay & Gulf area residents with their air conditioning and heating needs since 1979. In addition to being an award-winning service provider, the company is also an active presence in the community.

Annual toy drive

For the past five years, Doctor Cool & Professor Heat has collected toys for Christmas to donate to families in need. This year, both employees and customers have gotten involved. Doctor Cool & Professor Heat has a fund that goes year-round in the office, and for the second year in a row they’ve gotten help from customers, too.

This year, staff and customers collected four large boxes full of toys along with eight bicycles. Doctor Cool has also adopted two families this year for Christmas.

“It makes us feel good that we can give to those in need,” said Jim Barry, who owns Doctor Cool & Professor Heat with his wife, Cathy, and son, James.

Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

In an effort to help raise awareness for breast cancer, Doctor Cool has added a pink van to their fleet of service vehicles. They donate 1% of the pink van’s proceeds to a local Breast Cancer Awareness fund.

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

On Dec. 12, Doctor Cool employees and their children participated in the annual Dickinson Rotary Christmas Parade and had a great time throwing candy and goodies to parade-goers. It is an annual event that the staff and families of Doctor Cool enjoy participating in.

Passing the Torch in 2014

In April of 2014, Doctor Cool & Professor Heat owners Jim and Cathy Barry are looking forward to officially passing the torch to their son, who has worked at the company from its beginning.

When Jim Barry started this family owned and operated business, his mission was simple; he wanted to provide amazing customer service to every client while offering quality and affordable service. With the new generation will come a few new looks at the company, but the dedication to excellence in service will remain.
